Introduce Yourself : Just a scribe looking for my tribe... by Keith Hannigan

Just a scribe looking for my tribe...

I used that line a few years ago in a writers group here in the metro Atlanta, Georgia region. But it's so very true and sums up why I'm here. I look forward to connecting with those of you who are dreamers. With those of you who can't sit still because you have stories to tell. With those of you who have this gift and must share it with the world.

Cheers,

Hey, Keith - welcome to the community! You're in the right place to find your tribe for sure! We have lots of members from the Atlanta area if you're looking to connect with more locals, but Stage 32 is a global community, so feel free to reach far and wide!

What are you working on? Is there a genre you like working with? What would you say your top three films/series are?

Karen "Kay" Ross -- Thank you for that! Both near and far, my T-Rex wingspan is open as wide as it will stretch, accepting all comers. Except for five-stage clingers and creepers named Jim Billy.

To answer your questions -- I'm currently working on my bible for a TV Pilot I wrote. The pilot is a fictitious yet accurate account of the professional wrestling industry between 1994 and 2004. There's an Oscar Wilde quote that says, "when the gods wish to punish us they answer our prayers." I can't think of any profession in the world where that is truer than pro wrestling. Maybe except for porn. What I mean is this -- none of these folks are making it to 65 with many of them dying before 50. Everything that makes this world horrible happens in this world where superheroes are on food stamps. All the while, millions cheer, and very few profit. I like to sum it up by saying this is Succession in the WWE. It's also my goal to recreate why so many couldn't wait a week after the final ticks of that week's episode ended. Leaving me and 10 million people wondering, at the exact same time, what is going to happen next?!

The genre I tend to write would be a dramatic comedy. I love the idea of making someone laugh, cry and then laugh again.

The three most important films of my life are:

Goodfellas -- I'm half Italian and a life goal was seriously being a member of the mob. I was on a lot of drugs.

Pulp Fiction - In 1994, I didn't know dialogue could sound like that (Note these words).

Boogie Nights -- That's when I found out just how goddamn cool writing a world could be.

The three most important series of my life are:

The Sopranos -- Please see the above statement about Goodfellas.

The West Wing -- In 2004, I didn't know dialogue could sound like that.

And Breaking Bad -- I would shake when that night's episode would end. Which reminded me of, wait for it, Monday Night Raw back in the late '90s!

Okay -- I hope I made this extremely long response worth your time. Thank you again!
