Hi, Melissa Nandanwar congrats on your screenplay! People have definitely sold their scripts through pitching. Have you looked into the "Script Services" tab here on Stage 32? You can find development and script services with exec's from Universal, MGM, Mandalay Pictures, HBOMax and many others (this includes pitching! If you're looking to practice your pitch, joining the Writers' Room is a great way to do that - we have pitch tank practice every Thursday, where you have the opportunity to pitch and receive feedback. The Writers' Room also brings in exec's once a month, so you have the opportunity to pitch there live to an exec. There are many other great reasons to join too, including script coverage, learning about the business and craft and so much more. If you'd like to try it out for a free month, please email Jason Mirch (j.mirch@stage32.com), the Director of Script Services. He can also point you in the direction to the best exec that matches your specific material.
Hey, Melissa! Welcome to the community! I second Monica Mansy 's suggestions - yes, you can absolutely sell your screenplay. When it will happen? No one can say for sure. The Queen's Gambit took 30 years to go from script to screen while others are greenlit before the script is formatted. The best way to give your screenplay a chance to just to keep writing. Once this one is done, start pitching it while you write the next one.
With that in mind, what's up next for you? Will you be writing another novel, or are you digging screenplays now? I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely check out the Authoring Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting) to meet like-minded creatives as well!
