Representation

Hi guys,

Well. I was wondering if you know any agents or managers interested in screenwriters working in the horror, thriller genre?

How should I approach them? Is query letter a successful way?

Thank you!

Harrison Glaser

Hi Mihail Krastev! It's a great question. It depends on the rep, but query letters aren't always the best way to go. Managers are usually bombarded with letters and many don't even read them. It can be harder to engineer , but the best way to get noticed by a manager or agent is usually through good old fashioned networking, having friends in the industry write to a manager on your behalf or find connections in other organic ways.

A couple resources that could be helpful for you. First, check out this webinar from manager Jake Wagner (POLAROID, CRAWL, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMEN) on what managers look for in horror scripts. It might give you some good ideas: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/What-Managers-Look-for-in-a-Horror-Shor...

And then we have a lot of fantastic managers on Stage 32 that give really helpful tips on this subject, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone cover it as well as Audrey Knox from The Cartel. She hosted a two session class a few weeks ago that totally nails everything having to do with finding and working with a manager https://www.stage32.com/classes/Stage-32-Screenwriting-Class-How-to-Bett...

If you're interested in either of these, shoot me an email today at h.glaser@stage32.com. I'll throw you a discount!

Hey Mihail Krastev! Great to have you in the community and I am glad we are connected. I am the Director of Script Services at Stage 32. Of course I am happy to help as best I can. The goal of Stage 32 Script Services is to provide opportunities for consultations and development notes from working industry pros including producers, executives, managers and others.

So while the scripts you submit are not submissions to the companies, they are being read by their top executives who provide you feedback.

With respect to managers, there are several that we work with who could be helpful to your process. And while the interactions are always educational, many writers have been signed by managers and agents they met through Stage 32 Script Services.

This Literary Manager very A-list management company, has been incredibly supportive of writers. His current company's client credits include "THE CROWN", "GET OUT", THE SUICIDE SQUAD, "ATLANTA", LADY BIRD, and many more. You can click here to send your script and speak with this manager for a full hour: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=29&genre=feature&...

For privacy purposes he asked to keep his name confidential but will introduce himself on the call.

There are a few that work directly with Stage 32 that I think are great who you might check out. Email me at j.mirch@stage32.com and I will give you more suggestions.
