Introduce Yourself : It's all about opportunity by Jenny Del Prete

It's all about opportunity

Hi to everyone, members of this great community. I'm an up-and-coming screenwriter with a lot of experience in theater as an Actor a Director. I started writing for a real need about see on the screen what I have in my mind. I studied for at least 4 years the techniques of narrative design and now I'm proposing my-self to the market.

I think all the emotional baggage we carry on, on our shoulders, has to flow in our writing in order to wake the right emotion to the viewers. It's hard to walk on the right path to reach our goals, but I guess in the end it's all about opportunity.

Roman philosopher Seneca once said (even if it's a recent and forced attribution), “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

So let's get ready to be ready.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Jenny Del Prete. Nice to meet you. What type of scripts have you written? Shorts? Features? What genres?

Jenny Del Prete

Nice to meet you too Maurice Vaughan. I usually write sci-fi features or thriller. But in my portfolio I have also a horror movie, two pilot episodes for two different TV series and a Fantasy one. But even if I have a preference for sci-fi (usually set in dystopian futures) that doesn't mean I won't write different type of movies. Thanks for asking anyway. And what about you? What kind of movie you prefer to write of? Any advice for a foreign screenwriter like me?

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jenny Del Prete. We write similar genres. I mainly write short scripts and feature scripts. For advice? If you plan to submit to American production companies, director, producers, etc., make sure your scripts are formatted like standard U.S. scripts. I'm not sure if I know any other advice for a foreign screenwriter.

Jenny Del Prete

Thanks Maurice. Formatting details are very important so it's something I already studied. Also they're not so different. For instance, when we write a script in Italian language, we use a lot of English words for transactions. They are useful instead of some long Italian word. Anyway thanks again and write hard

Maurice Vaughan

Ok, cool. I didn't know that about scripts written in the Italian language. Have a creative weekend.

Jonathan Kramer

Ready to be ready..sounds like you're an Abraham Hicks follower like I am. If you haven't already, I'd suggest reading Steven Pressfield's "The War of Art" which while written for authors is the best book on the topic of resistance

Evelyn Von Warnitz

A warmly welcome in this beautiful network, Jenny! Truly some nice thoughts.. Let's keep the creative flow growing.

Abdallah Saleh

Well said. Thank you.

Jenny Del Prete

Jonathan thanks for your advice. I will read it for sure. It sounds very interesting. Also I find the law of attraction a must in our life, to build a better and aware self. Have a great weekend.

Jonathan Kramer

Jenny..my pleasure..I rarely encounter others aware of the Law of Attraction so its refreshing. Of the various pursuits, I design text based tee shirt designs uploaded to Amazon and recently added "That which is like unto itself is drawn" :)

Jenny Del Prete

Sentence very charming and "attractive"
