Are animals as hard to work with as people say? I have a Yorkie, and she's smart enough to manipulate my wife and me. She runs the household.

I don't think so especially the smart ones. You build a bond and they understand what you want. They have fun in the game of it. That is why I think animal actors should come from homes not just a kennal of dogs if you want an animal that is truly acting.
