Hey folks, I just rewrote my writer's bio. If you're like me, this is a dreaded task. Or it used to be. The previous bio was 'just the facts' and didn't give much access to my personality. However, last year I completed a 'find your writer's voice' exercise; something else I wasn't looking forward to.
It was worth it, though. It turns out that taking a critical look at your loves, hurts and other emotional viscera can be good for you. For starters, it sped up my writing. My characters became more diverse, my plots more foul.
Soul searching lets you strip away your own pretenses. You see humor in the pain. You learn where humor is hiding pain. And you write wordy writer's bios. I'd love to have your reactions but--spoiler alert--it's over 400 words.
Phyllis K Twombly 'Love the bio and great to meet you. Kudos to you on doing the emotional work and congrats on your adaptation.
