Oh gosh, says Bugsy Malone with an intro to the film, “It’s raining brains,” in Alan Parker’s all musical, all singing, all dancing, all crime caper who redefined the movie musical in 1976 with all child actors in the riveting BUGSY MALONE (PARAMOUNT PRESENTS CLASSICS NUMBER 23, BLU-RAY + DIGITAL CODE). Set in 1929 New York (actually filmed in England), MALONE captures a flashy world of would-be hoodlums, showgirls, and dreamers - all starring incredible talented 12-year-old actors. The most famous, being Jodie Foster and Scott Baio in the leading roles. I was dazzled to death with the camp, fanciful costumes, and yes, gunmen, with harmless funny “Splurge Guns,” -think whipped cream pies in-the-face splatter shots! The young performers did a remarkable job with the acting and all were convincing as adult voices were used for the singing roles. A huge hit in England, this is the first time in the U.S. on Blu-ray, the film has been beautifully remastered from the original elements for this limited-edition release. Bonus Content: Filmmaker Focus delving into the early work from the director of FAME, THE COMMITMENTS, PINK FLOYD: THE WALL, MISSISSIPPI BURNING, and EVITA. Also enjoyable is a segment with song writer Paul Williams. Loved all the songs PLUS THE INSPIRATIONAL FINALE, “Give A Little Love” when both gangs of New York come together for the happiest of endings ever filmed! G. 10 out of 10. Make you kids happy with this perfect family film that will also astound your senses! ______
