Distribution : Unique Position? by Nicole Gregory Crocker

Unique Position?

I am very new to the entertainment world. My background is in marketing and advertising for the construction industry. From all of the research I have done I believe I am in a fairly unique position. I have created a television series, hired the cast and production team, filmed 13 episodes and we air on a paid programming spot on a major network exactly 2 weeks. NOW I need to secure a relationship with a network that will pay for my content. I’m considering Vuulr & Amazon as a way to distribute and re-coup my investment .. but of course I want to capture the attention of the big networks (HGTV, Bravo, Pietown, etc). Does anyone have some ideas on how to get started on that next step and/or a business or person who would want to have a discussion with me!

Great to meet you, Nicole Gregory Crocker! Wow, congrats on moving forward with the first half of you series, that's awesome! Have you put together a pitch for it? If not, feel free to use Stage 32's free Pitching Guidebook to structure yours: https://www.stage32.com/sites/stage32.com/themes/two/pdfs/happy-writers/Stage_32_Pitching_Guidebook.pdf

You can then sign-up for pitch sessions here: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/pitch-sessions

Since you've already started filming, I feel like you would benefit most from a Reel Review where you could have executives active in the industry review your pilot, which should have all the relevant information presented within it: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=71&affid=kay

Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com

Hey, Nicole! How is your project going?

We had a great first run with Fox for Season 1!! Between .5-1.5 ratings every week!! Season 2 begins this Sunday. Now I just need to find a way to get some return on my investment.

Debbie Elicksen

That is so amazing. Marketing, regardless of genre, is transferrable, so having that gives you an edge, in my books. We have a bit in common. I used to write for a construction mag and for the homebuilding industry. You are in the right place to find resources. Kay said it all in her response. Also there are so many great online workshops available under the Education tab that provide some answers and ideas.
