Introduce Yourself : Introducing by Jessica Mitchell

Introducing

Hi, I'm Jess.

I love to read, and write, and learn new things. I am actually here to learn something new. This seemed to me to be a better fit to start with.

I've been asked repeatedly to "write my experiences" though writing doesn't really seem to fit the bill for me, so I thought I'd try looking into, and learning about, some other options.

Maybe a Docu-Series, maybe a Psychological Thriller, or maybe a Reality Series, or perhaps a Real Crime, or something else... Not sure... So, going to learn some more, and see what fits. Right now, trying to timeline more of the "happenings" and add some more flesh to old bones. When I'm not working on that I may or may not be working on a written thingy on the side, and perhaps some other ideas that could do with some attention.

I've had lots of little ideas, most of which don't have the kind of fluidity I'm looking for when they've been tacked down in a written format. Then again, what really captures reality other than, well, reality, which...Hmmm.. We ARE sort of getting closer to with advances in tech and social distancing will likely help... Hmmm. So many ideas and things to discuss, so very little time.

Looking forward to meeting many new people, to reading new things, to learning and growing and Doing something new and adventurous that clears up some cluttery stuff.

Great to meet you, Jessica Mitchell, and welcome to the community! You've definitely come to the right place to learn about screenwriting and filmmaking. Since you're writing based on true events (correct?), sometimes writing it out in prose first helps to suss out if the story would be better served as a feature film or as a series.

But don't take my word for it! You can post in the Screenwriting Lounge and ask for advice anytime: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting

Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my blog post on how to get the most out of the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Hiyas, Kay! (nervous chuckle)

I am writing about true events, yes. I'm finding it a challenge. It's easier to write about others' true events than my own, so I will be checking out the prose option because Yes, I do need some help figuring out what to say and how to say it about what needs to be said, lols. Yikers, what a mouthful, eh?! lol

Okay... Ummm... I am so not good at this. I started writing and it was this big long thing, and then I panicked, so LOL now, sadly, you're getting this bit instead. There are times I really appreciate being able to write, I can edit. LMFO

I will check out the info and places. I am really trying to stretch myself here and start to reconnect with a world I disappeared out of. Thank you for reaching out to me. Thank you for being here to support. Thank you for the excellent resources, and for feeding the hope that I will get this off the ground through all of this connection.
