A few random thoughts (just my opinion) for those seeking ghost writers (or some other forms of writing assistance) --
1. No One can write your story for you. Period. You have aspiring writers (I'll be the first to admit) who claim they found a story idea that, if written well, will be showcased at the next academy. That is possible ONLY if you write the story. No matter how long it takes, but the heart must be yours.
2. Outside of InkTip, Blacklist and a few others, I have yet to find credible sources for inputs. Friends and family inputs aren't worth a dime. They are prejudiced. Sorry. Once you have a solid first draft, spend a little $$ to get input from industry professionals. Harsh at times, there will be some great feedback. You can always chose to ignore if you do not agree with any feedback. Otherwise, rewrite and continue to seek 8-9-10 score on Blacklist. Anything below that number, script ain't ready for prime time.
3. Read. Read. Read. There are countless produced scripts out there for you to read and learn. Genre neutral. You need time, perseverance and persistence.
4. Writing is hard. Good writing is harder. Great writing, shadow Sorkin.
It is not my intention to beat up writers. Just something I wish someone would've told me decades ago.
Happy writing!
