Hello everyone, my name is Sean Zamir. I’m from Houston, Texas.
First off, it’s a pleasure to hear from everyone here and reading about everyone. It makes me feel like I have a chance to learn and work from INDIVIDUALS THAT CARE! I want to learn from anyone about anything.
I’m also looking to find more work as an actor, but also learn more as a Director and someday direct. I want to continue to write my own Scripps to collaborate with others and create something unique or help out with anything I can. Listen to me. This whole process is a team effort about having fun but aligning everyone’s goals to make something special.
I’ve been into film and acting since I was 12. I’ve done short films, I have done plays, and I’ve done featured-length films, which taught me a lot. I have filmed and directed a few ads for businesses. I am interested in finding a team that would want to make a film actors directors writers.
I'm ready to go!! But I know everything is a STEP BY STEP process. Currently taking STAGE 32 class taught by HEATH CULLENS, I RECOMMENDED IT
I would love to work with anyone so, contact me if you want to work on Anything. OR IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN HELP WITH, DON'T HESITATE! I'm a professional
Hi!
Just wanted to see if I could help at all by reflecting on my own experience of getting an agent.
Obviously there is the traditional way of writing a cover letter/email/postcard or inviting them to see you perform on stage.
However, I didn't get much response from those methods personally.
What got me an agent was being in a well-made short film as a leading role and suggesting to the filmmaker to submit it for independent review by well-known platforms like UK Film Review, Screencritix, Film Threat and some others.
When the reviews came out, my performance was mentioned by name favourably because I was the lead and so I took those quotes that mentioned me and made a very short email which said basically that I'm seeking representation and here's what the critics have to say about me.
Within 1 week, I immediately had 5 offers on the table from well-known and reputable agencies and booked the agent I had been "professionally stalking" for years.
Now, it all depends on how the film is recieved but if you watch it ahead of public release and you know it's review and festival worthy, don't be afraid to suggest that to the indie filmmakers because filmmakers are not always switched on to publicity methods. If you encourage and reassure them it's worth a try, then a good review will do them and you wonders if you get it.
I hope this idea is helpful to you and any other actors reading this.
May I also recommend you subscribe to Film Forums on YouTube because we have great interviews there with actors, asking them how they got an agent, showreel, talent manager and more: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLddA1YLYcvF5eVSPyc9c540w6qZrSvepE
There is a natural segue from actor to director, so I would suggest focusing on your acting for now so you have a single, tangible skill set you can offer to others, and then you can brand out from there. Are you taking any acting classes in-person?
Also, be sure to get on film school radars - working on student work doesn't pay anything, but it gives you great experience and more material for your next reel.
Thanks so much for the shoutout - I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your classes!
