Introduce Yourself : Hello by Alexandra Jimenez

Alexandra Jimenez

Hello

Hey everyone! Since it's Introduce Yourself week, I'm Alexandra Jimenez. I'm a Honduran-American filmmaker (producer/screenwriter/director) based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. I'm currently developing an animated short film, an animated web series, and a feature documentary. I'm also doing NaNoWriMo for the first time... xD

I'm the CEO/Project Manager at BAST Animation, which is the company that my husband started some years ago; this year we started our Animation School and we're currently supervising the animated short films that are coming out through our Animation Studio from the first two generations (our Signature Education program is 18 months long divided like this: 12 months of courses and 6 months of production).

Happy to connect no matter where you are from.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Good to see you again, Alexandra Jimenez! Ooo, GIRL, I love this slate of projects you're working on! What's your documentary about? If you get a moment, I'd love for you to pop over to the Animation Lounge to share your insight and advice: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/animation Who do you have working with you on your animated projects? Just students? I'm quite in love with animator/director Fernanda Frick, who is Chilean: https://fernandafrick.com/

Oh, how is NaNoWriMo going for you? It's intense to try to make that word count! O.O We do something similar in November here on Stage 32 called the Nov. Write Club, but you get to make your own goals. Check it out, I think you'll find it could help you nail your NaNoWriMo goals! https://www.stage32.com/blog/Join-Us-for-the-7th-Annual-November-Write-Club

Awesome, I'm so glad to hear you and the school are still doing well! Keep us posted on the progress of your projects!

Alexandra, I'm so happy to meet you and WOW WOW WOW, Congrats on your animation school and all of the amazing work that you're doing with your studio! And yes please, do keep us updated on how all of this work continues to progress!

Hey Karen "Kay" Ross, yeah, currently just the students, the short films are their thesis project to finish the Signature program, and depending on how they work and everything it's how we'll onboard more people into our Animation Studio (we're still quite a small operation). We recently made a strategic alliance to give scholarships to our Signature program, that way we can make the program even more accessible, though it's the most accessible option vs a University that has an Animation program but doesn't cover everything we need for the animators to know, for them to work with us.

Hello...I'm in Iowa...Mid-west....Super excited to hear about your animation school. That is so cool!!!! I can't draw anything to save my life - my stick figures look like they were hit by a bus :) but that is awesome....I have some cool ideas for animation, I love cartoons :) Still a big kid at heart!! Can't wait to hear more about your projects...

Welcome Alexandra. Sounds like you’ve got a few ambitious projects going on. Are you able to share more details about your documentary?

Karen "Kay" Ross

That's fantastic, Alexandra! And what a great idea to provide a scholarship to better facilitate the students you work with! I feel like I have no idea how to go about creating and implementing a scholarship program LOL Would you be willing to share about what that process was like in the Producing Lounge? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing Or maybe in the Animation Lounge? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/animation
