Screenwriting : Script editing/ feedback by Shanequa Norman

Script editing/ feedback

Hello all!

I've written my first script. I'm still in the editing phase. Was wondering if there's anywhere on here to get help editing? Or are there any groups where people swap scripts? My genre is drama/crime. It's kind of hard to find people with the same genre I've found that most have been doing fantasy/sci-fi.

Hi Shanequa, my advice - before you start paying for services - is to correct as much of it as you can. One problem that writers encounter is being too close to the project to see what needs fixing. For me, there is no simple answer to this other than setting my script aside, starting another and coming back to the original in a couple of months time with fresh eyes to see all the mistakes I couldn't see before. Now, unless you have loads of cash to throw around, I would start researching editing - there's loads of advice online. and my advice is to start compiling a folder with editing advice. Then- after you've got it as good as you can- ask your friends for their opinion and remember the pancake adage about how the first one out of the pan is not as good as those that will follow.
