G'day from the Kiwi living in Seattle!
I wanted to let you all know that I just put my short film "I'm Okay..." up online, and anyone can view it at https://youtu.be/5A9ZzYkeKIk. I also put together a website for it at https://www.im-okay-film.com/, for anyone who wants to see more about it. I had a little fun submitting it to festivals, and the film managed to win an Award of Recognition in the Film Short Category, and I won an Award of Merit in the Actor: Leading category for the Best Shorts Competition. The film also won a Special Mention Award in the Global Shorts International Short Film Competition, and was a Semi-FInalist in the Vancouver Independent Film Festival.
When I came back to New Zealand at the end of 2020 to be with my family after my Dad was diagnosed with Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma, I was required to spend two weeks in managed isolation. "I'm Okay..." was born out of a mix of wanting to do something creative while in quarantine, and wanting to distract myself from what I was about to face. Shot with the only equipment I had with me, my iPhone, “I’m Okay…” is a little comic insight into what happened when the only company I really had for two weeks was me, myself, and I. This is also my film-making debut.
Synopsis: What happens when you are isolated in a hotel room for two weeks by yourself? James is about to find out! He might think he is okay, but his other personalities have a little something to say about that.
