Hey everyone. I came across Stage 32 recently. I'm originally from Chicago but have lived in Tokyo for over a decade and run my own commercial video production company (along with my partners) where aside from managing the business itself I primarily work as a line producer.
We've done films in Japan for Kenzo, Dior, Apple, IBM etc and recently worked on music videos for Nas and the Weeknd. I love producing. It almost feels like a hospitality job. We try to create conditions for artists and technicians to do their best work and for clients to have a smooth production experience.
I'm really interested in getting into narrative filmmaking as a producer (maaaaybe director?) and am awaiting the results of my application to USC's Peter Stark (TV & Film) Producing Program. Either way, I'm moving to LA this summer and spending the next 2-3 years or so studying or working in film and then I'll return to Tokyo and start a Science Fiction / Science Fiction-Horror film development company. I'm looking forward to joining this community and if you ever get a chance to shoot something in Japan don't hesitate to reach out.
Hey Jon, planning on making a movie?
Billy Kwack if I find the right story definitely. Something that makes me want to go through all that trouble haha. But actually, my current obsession is Junji Ito's "Tomie." I think it's an anthology that could be adapted into a number of amazing stories. Japan produced some so so films for it in the 2000s. I'd love to approach it again.
Hey Jon, I don't know what that is. I have 2 on the table, Star Child and Magic Reborn, both fantasy action. What genre do you prefer?
Jonathan, I'm so happy to e-meet you & welcome to Stage 32! I live in LA myself (and love it), & please please reach out once you're in town. I would love to meet up and would absolutely love to collab :)

Welcome welcome!
Billy Kwack Ito is a famous horror manga artist. He's worth looking up. His work is really good. I like fantasy but I'm personally more interested in Science Fiction because I think, similar to what Star Trek did for a generation, we can use it to both entertain and encourage people to explore the sciences and engineering.
Thanks Angela. I'm looking forward to building a network and finding my people when I get to LA. I'd love to stay in contact. Your background looks really interesting too.
Hey Jonathan Ealey would love to hear more about your these upcoming projects.
Welcome Jonathan :), I have grounded sci fi short that I wrote that explores identity in a nearby future. I hope to connect with you when you come out to LA and discuss.
