Screenwriting : Sending Queries by Hailey Escobar-Collazos

Sending Queries

So, I have one script that I want to start querying that I recently realized I should have started sending out like 2 years ago. I’m currently developing my 2nd and 3rd personal scripts while also developing some independent scripts, but they’re still in early drafts. (CLARIFICATION: I would not be sending the query for the unfinished scripts only the finished one. Eveything I’ve been reading though says that you should have a second finished one just in case the agent or manager wants to see more)

Would it still be good to send out the queries if I don’t have a completed 2nd script?

For myself, even without agent,I've found successes by waiting until my script is done to come up with loglines and have had great success making pitch decks to showcase my script's potential.

choose the best scene you've got and make a 3 min short movie. it will enlight you about all the different steps of a movie making endeavour (including how to deal w bad screenplay in the shooting and post editing...

in my experience in the university all writers get fatal frustation when image on screen does not make for image from imagination...

so, your short is not to get an oscar, but to expand perception to be ready to talk to producers and other pro people to REAL make your screenplay to movie.

hope this quest get you where you want to be.
