Does anyone know if you need to copyright a stageplay adaptation of a screenplay, if you've already copyrighted the screenplay, and vice versa? Are they separate copyrights? Thanks in advance.
Copyright of derivative work exists upon creation of the adaptation, and is to be registered as another separate copyright, yes. For your protection, a necessity. Good luck.
Thanks, Tom. That's great to know. Quick question: Do you register the stage play as a Performing Arts work (like a screenplay), or as a Literary Work (unpublished)? Thanks again.
