Question regarding writing television

So, I understand that most tv shows scripts have a teaser before Act 1. However when writing a tv script, is really necessary to have a teaser written for every episode of a tv show script?

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

No. It's not necessary. Just open every episode with a compelling scene but it's not necessary to identify it as a teaser. I only do it for a pilot. Guidelines are not cast in concrete.

Doug Nelson

Not necessarily - generally there is a short pre add opening title/intro, Then a post add refresher/update frim the last episode, then the new episode in acts separated by the add load. There is only a little new writing for each episode which is what the studios want 'cuz those in the Writer's Rooms get union scale.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Allow me to provide further proof that using a teaser is merely a preference. I have pulled two well-known pilots, The Handmaid's Tale and The Borgias as well as episode 4 of Deadwood. Nowhere in these professionally written and successful shows do they identify the word teaser. So unless I missed it in these scripts or missed the memo, nowhere in these scripts do they identify a teaser. See pilot links below.

Write the format employers are paying for. Here are examples of actual tv scripts
