I wrote the origins of Jack of Hearts as a seventeen minute short film because I was broke, headed for divorce, brokenhearted -- searching for answers and happiness at age forty. Despite many years of hard work I had very little to show for. I felt like a failure in life. I had no choice but to move in with my sister and her family or be out on the streets. I found a job and realized that I needed to turn my heartbreak into something positive. My years of hard work in the television and film industry weren’t in vain. I poured my emotions into writing a screenplay for the original Jack of Hearts. At the core Jack of Hearts is about how to persevere and overcome loneliness and sadness -- In search of love and happiness. It’s a universal message that’s relatable around the world. I took all my personal emotions and created a story that’s filled with mystery, suspense, love, sex, intrigue, fantasies and the desire to always find a better way of life. Jack of Hearts has grown from a short seventeen minute film which I produced, wrote and directed as a man crew into a feature film script and a limited series. I want to share this project with the world by employing cast and crew of all races and color to show that entertainment can be suspenseful and exciting while encouraging people to be strong and resilient.
