Like the Skies on Earth

A group of young people discover love in three different time periods.

Tracy David Sim

Tony, would a clue about how the time periods are navigated pique further curiosity?

Tony Byrd

It’s the 1940s about a painter. The 60s about a writer. The present day is about a musician.

Tracy David Sim

It's intriguing. I started writing many of my loglines with this basic structure that says in a roundabout way.. "When this action happens.. This reaction happens". If possible, a logline can help prompt the person reader or development person to ask for the script if it successfully captures the dramatic tension. Good luck!

Tony Byrd

Should the logline be three intertwined stories, right?

Tracy David Sim

I am guessing they are. If the stories are related, but not connected as one story, then it might be called an anthology. A logline is meant to capture the reader's attention. Make them want to find out what happens, sometimes called a hook. I think your logline should address how the three stories are related, if they are.

DD Myles

My question is... what is the connection between this group and the three timelines? Why and how do they fall in love? What's preventing them from falling in love? Your logline should state that like so: "In three different time periods, a painter, a writer, and a musician face incredible obstacles and persecution to be with the women they love."

Tony Byrd

1) It’s played by the same two people. 2) It’s love at first sight. 3) One of them comes from a poor family.
