Nice to meet everyone here. My name is E.J. Wyatt. Right now I am living in NC and missing LA.
I love world building. I used to constantly try, and find ways to get my worlds discovered. It was a difficult journey; however, the journey it self has been a discovery of new worlds with in it self. Once I had a crazy idea to write short stories and pass them out all over LA.
One of the short stories I wrote around October time, was a story titled "Morfiend". The story took place in a boarding school for shape shifting kids, whom are raised there. Keep in mind that with in this shape shifting world, people can not shape shift into anything animated, rather than stationary. It follows a kid, who is studying for a final exam so he could finally graduate and leave the boarding school (bullying is a big thing at this school, and in the full story there is a reason for that). So he shape shifts into a desk that was in his dorm room his whole life. An image of a face comes out the side of the desk, so he could see how well he did. Still keeping the exact same texture (one of the criteria's of the school), he was confident he was about to graduate; however, just when he was about to unmorph back to normal, a light he has never seen appears on the ceiling. He struggles and tries to unmorph, but can't. Then his dorm room door opens up. People walk in wearing painter outfits and carrying paint brushes. The short story ends with the painters staining the character to death as he is screaming.
Not the best world I have created, but I thought it was a darn good one, given it was around halloween. So I get a dry eraser board which said "Morfiend, free", print 100's of copies on my laser jet printer, and stand out all over LA trying to hand them out (Burbank, Hollywood blvd, etc.). It was a horrible way of trying to share my work! 90% of the population thought I was handing out drugs, and the rest were homeless people coming up to me yelling "Morfiends, I hate those assholes too" , then try and high five me.
Lived in Cali for ten years, and not one world was discovered. I went back to the drawing board, returned to NC, and had a daughter. I still make worlds, but not for them to be discovered. I make them, cause I can't wait for her to get old enough, to share these worlds with.

Probably you should try another genre. Sometimes we don't see where our strenghts lie. I for example found the last two paragraphs really amusing - I hope you dont mind. I have tried myself writing serious stuff but what people like to read from me (as I have published a few stories) are the funny ones.
Hi, E.J. How's it going? I live in NC. Which part do you live?
