Introduce Yourself : Happy {pick your holiday}! Director looking to sharpen claws on a horror short or three - who wants to play? by James P Gleason

Happy {pick your holiday}! Director looking to sharpen claws on a horror short or three - who wants to play?

It's been a few years since my thesis film (meaning I need a new directing sample or two) and most of my film school network is mid-career now, so I need a new NETWORK. I'm ready to do the *WORK but I might need some help spreading the NET. Who wants to play? Happy to help anyone else in your diabolical misadventures. I'm LA based but curiosity travels.

Maurice Vaughan

Nice to meet you, James. You're in the right place to build a new network. You can post this in the job section of Stage 32.

James P Gleason

Hi Maurice, thanks for the warm welcome. Haven't made it to NC yet. Between "31 Nights of Halloween" and your other works, it looks like horror might be one of your warm blankets?

Not sure I'm ready to toss any of my projects on the job side yet (it's a chicken and egg thing, isn't it? Your project should be ready to roll before you staff up, but you need a few keys to help you make sure you're ready... sigh)

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, James. Yeah, Horror is one of my main genres to write. If you need a co-writer on a short script, let me know.

Maybe gather the main members of a crew to get your projects ready to roll, then post job ads for the remaining positions?

James P Gleason

Haven't tried writing with a partner yet. Trading input on short scripts would be a good start --

Do you have anything you'd like eyes on?

Speaking of good starts, finding a producer to help me lay out a road map might be just the ticket.

Rama Rengan

Hi James and Maurice. I'm an editor. Let me know if you need my help.

Maurice Vaughan

Trading input on short scripts sounds great. I'll direct message you.

I think finding a producer to help you lay out a roadmap is a great starting point.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Rama. I don't produce movies, so I don't need an editor, but thanks for your offer.

Lisa Lee

Hi James. I have a short script that I’ve recently completed. It has zombies in it, but leans more towards sci-fi rather than horror, if you’re interested in that genre at all.

James P Gleason

Hi Lisa - I'd be happy to put eyes on it. Feel free to send it my way.

Lisa Lee

James, excellent! It is listed under my loglines, An Experiment in Behavior. I also can just email it to you, if you'd prefer.
