Question about introducing Animated characters.

Hello fellow screenwriters. I am currently writing a script that is partially animated. When you are writing the animation action descriptions would you also introduce the characters in all caps, or just describe the scene?

Bob Harper

I usually introduce the character in all caps as in live-action, with a quick :"animated" descriptive after their name included with any other traits as you would a live-action character.

Lisa Penner Dang

Thank you Bob.

Rama Rengan

What is the project?

Lisa Penner Dang

It's called Brigid of Dingle based on St. Brigid of Kildare Ireland. Comedy/ Dramedy/ partial animation.

Maurice Vaughan

Yes, Penner. You put character names in all caps when you first introduce them in animation.

Thanks Maurice, I did one: Mony a Mickle Maks a Muckle that was partial animation but it was visions from a blind girl so they were just visions not characters. What about if it's a non occurring character like: Six women are milking cows? Do I need to put: WOMEN MILKING COWS of just describe?

Bob Harper

Lisa Penner Dang If it is specific to the story that there are 6 women, then it would be helpful for whoever is going to cast or create the characters track.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Penner. If the six women will talk in the script, I would write SIX WOMEN MILKING COWS when they're introduced.

I agree with Bob.

Lisa Penner Dang

Yes, not talking. Just showing some of the miracles and day to day life of St. Brigid.

Maurice Vaughan

Their names don't need to be in all caps if they don't talk, Penner.
