Hey there, creative community! Quite awed by the hefty amount of people here, really inspiring to see so many great creatives.
So, I'm an indie author with a book I wish to make into series. The book itself is out there online with the name of "Seven Deadly Cardinals" ( by Arc Dreamer, which is me ) and is quite hard to digest, as it's psychological thriller. The best comment on it - was an acquaintance psychologist telling me that he had to go for a smoke and think about life after each chapter. I had a sense that I nailed it!
The book is about seven different people who embody the goodness of the heavenly cardinal and then due to life problems, troubles, setbacks, they fall into the opposite sin. Quite a heavy read with gruesome scenes of violence, language, trauma, also it has the LGBT+ themes there. So over all - I feel like an evil scientist that concocted a very scary thing to have.
I had a taste of making a script, but I felt that it's a bit over the skill set I have, as I tend to make stories with written manuscripts, when script itself has so many bits to be noted and done that it knocked me off my feet.
I do wish to adapt the book into series, none the less and shall be in search of a good screen writer to adapt the manuscript into script. Although if there is a great someone interested to make more than a script - I'll welcome that with open arms.
I'm wondering how many authors had their books done as series/movies from the novel/fiction book itself. As mainly there is a large market for the scripts and separate one for the books. I've always wondered how they mingle. Maybe there's like a special "tinder" for such artsy things... Hm.
When I read about how people submit their works to agents, I do get the rage of agents and the typos and the pain of all that unfinished works that are in slush piles, with some odd writers being too persistent, with not so great of ideas shoved in agents face.
But then again, the research into each agent, then the adjustment of letter to each and every single one, searching their preferences, what they want or need, then seeing if what you got is sufficient. Having the moments of finding "the one", but they don't accept what you got coz they need some change of pace. So it's a like a really hard level tinder when you become the stalker to your agents, to be told "no" for many times over. And to not come across as a douche you just let it go, coz they are also human. But as you check the time spent on it, time spent waiting (coz typically anywhere between 3 weeks to 6 months), worrying, endlessly applying... And then the moment when "Oh wait, I can self publish.." comes along.
So in regard to creative industries - it feels like we're all on the different sorts of magical quests to gather XP and knowledge, reach achievements, then level up... But as we're all humans, we still have the worries, struggles and the endless doubts, then gather strength, find solutions and keep going. It's hard sometimes, but the amount of greatness that comes out of it - priceless.
So yeah, you wonderful people of this fine community - Hey everyone! Nice to meet you!

Cherelynn Baker For now it's translated to one more language and is out there to make few people queasy. But yeah, seeking for ways to make it into a good sort of a script, then see if it will be a good one to produce)
