Hi everyone. I've recently joined Stage 32, although I've been writing on and off since 2013. In that time I've written 13 feature Thrillers. 7 were learning scripts, used to get to grips with the writing process, 2 I ditched as I didn't think they were good enough and the remaining 4 I've been actively marketing the last couple of years.
My most recent script was a milestone as it was my first to score a Recommend on coverage, my previous 3 were lowly Considers. Yet despite this I've heard nothing from Dreamworks or Universal, in fact I'm starting to think this bidding war is all in my head.
So I guess this is where I turn to the wisdom of those who came before. I'm fairly confident I've 4 solid scripts, but I need to know my best options for moving my career forward. Is it competitions, pitching, cold calling? This is where you come in.
Welcome to Stage 32 Mark Kitchen! I am glad to took the leap to join the community and start the conversation with a post. For writing "on an off" you have really had a ton of work written. Congratulations on your first Recommend! Even a "Consider" is a big feat so be proud of those as well. I am the Director of Development Services at Stage 32. You can reach me at j.mirch@stage32.com - we can devise a strategy together of how to move these projects - and any others you're working on - forward in the market. Look forward to hearing from you!
