Starting a new script but thought of putting it in an 1880s British setting. It could be set in modern-day frame but I like the class system better back then to tell the story.
Question. Do I automatically shrink my audience by doing a period piece? I know I up my production costs but I obviously want to reach as many people as possible.
Thoughts?

Thanks, Rutger.
My target audience for this is the Downton Abbey demographic. Good read.
Yes, "Downtown Abbey" demographic really feels like you losing a substantial part of the younger audience. Then again, if this is your passion project, by all means, write it!
Hey Troy, this is Karen from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Authoring & Playwriting to Screenwriting, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!
