Introduce Yourself : Hi all by Carole Ryavec

Carole Ryavec

Hi all

Hi all. I’ve been around Stage32 for over a year. I’ve met a few of you in Pitch Practice, or at the Austin Film Festival or in zoom boxes at Jason’s webinars.

For a long time I viewed the forum as a way to learn about how and what I write. Writing was my focus.

After many consultations and coverage reports things have changed. The trickles of advice from producers and people in development turned in avalanches convinced me to adjust my priorities. The reviewers said to me “OK the is script is OK and you won that competition and it’s interesting and so on…” Then they asked me - but how can I sell you? Finally I understood that it was time to think about branding my self and my work.

So now my priority is marketing. Most of my career had been on Wall Street. And I loved to tell stories about my experiences there. I was a t Merrill Lynch and Salomon Brothers, as well as in those corner consultancies that help major money managers run investments efficiently. And I told Fidelity, as well as private banks in Switzerland and the UK, to trade in Dark Pools.

So in future you will be seeing more stories like REKT (comedy, crime, fantasy feature about bitcoin) and DARK POOLS (Feature, Crime). The change is energizing and exciting for me, and would not have happened if not for the many consultants with Stage32. Thanks to all of you - you know who you are.

Welcome to Stage 32 and in my humble opinion, the marketing can make or break a film! Enjoy the process!

Carole Ryavec - it is always great to hear from you! You've hit on something so important from these consultations that I hope all writers and creatives get. I know all of the professionals you've worked with and they have all been so complimentary of you! Keep it up!
