Screenwriting : Learning More As Time Goes On by Glenn Anthony Maneval Jr

Learning More As Time Goes On

Started writing my 4th screenplay, and it's pretty amazing how far I've come. Even though I just wrote a few pages, I've noticed feedback I've received from previous titles has been most helpful. Dialing back descriptiveness has been tough, but I've already noticed I'm thinking about each individual scene more thoughtfully. Here's to the continued learning process. Hope everyone is well.

Cara Rogers

I agree, Glenn! Funny problem I'm having - I've gotten so good at keeping things concise, my latest feature came out short and that NEVER happens to me. I usually cut pages, then fill with something I left out. Have to cut again, on and on lol!

Maurice Vaughan

I used to write way too much description in scenes. I've learned to avoid writing every detail. White space is your friend. :) Have a great, creative week, Glenn Anthony Maneval Jr and Cara Rogers.

Bob Johnson

One big thing I learned was to consider the business side when writing. Unless you're writing a huge budget tentpole action movie, you might want to pull back on special effects, explosions, car chases, crowds, famous locations, etc. Super expensive. Many times you can figure out the point of a scene, and then find a way to do it in a more cost-effective way.

Great tip, Bob Johnson.
