Rejection. As Film Composers you have to know that it is part and parcel of our business ... and you do get a lot of it. This is one from 2020. You have to understand that it is (usually) not about you as a person but that your music doesn't fit what the Director has in mind. The response to rejection? Answer gracefully, leave the door open for future work and keep going.

our job prospects are no different than for actors - we audition alot. sometimes we get cast and some times our music sounds great but doesn't fit the part. Now read my 'go with the flow' elsewhere here.

One thing I learned from my daughter (an actress) is, "they didn't say no to you. They simply said yes to someone else." For some reason that helps me deal with it
