Introduce Yourself : Let's get connected by George Sazo

Let's get connected

Some are dreaming of retiring at the age of 43. I'm dreaming of becoming a professional filmmaker and starting a whole new chapter in my life.

In the heart I've always been a filmmaker, since the day I first held a camera in my hand. However, as very often happens, for some reasons, my life went into a different direction. After nearly 20 years of being a successful software engineer and entrepreneur, I think it's the perfect time to start transitioning into this new journey.

As a starting point I did a couple online courses in filmmaking, produced a couple cinematic drone videos (two of which have been featured by DJI in their Skypixel program), learned ins and outs of Final Cut Pro, played with lighting, setup, etc.

Moreover, I enrolled in a filmmaking school. It's a one year intense course and at the end we need to produce a short film and also it's a perfect way to break-into this industry, which is quite tough to do.

In the meantime I'm practicing cinematography and working on a pontetial pilot for a TV show. If there's anyone interested in collaboration, I'm open for it.

Let's get connected!

Hi George,

welcome to Stage 32. Like Shellie said - you seem like you'll fit right in. I love your attitude about not wanting to retire. Same here! If I still get to make films at 84, that'll be a life well lived!

You're doing so much to further your career, that's so impressive. I love that you're so willing to learn about every aspect of filmmaking, from editing to camera to producing. Well done!

You're on a great trajectory by the looks of it!
