About to start filming our 4th film!

Hey everyone!

My name is Jerome J. Jackson and I'm a writer, producer, graphic artist and editor for Taleville Films. We've done three films and are currently working on our fourth!

I love to watch movies of all genres and study why they worked or why they didn't. My favorite film of all-time is Shawshank Redemption and can watch it over and over lol Strangely enough, my other favorites aren't in the same drama. Movies like The Prestige, Arrival, Interstellar, Seven, Fight Club, The Matrix and many more have drama in them but yeah, they are really sci-fi, fantasy and psychological.

What are some of your favorite films and genres?

Billy Kwack

Good luck Gerome, I love Dragon the Bruce Lee story.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Great to meet you, Jerome Jackson, and congratulations on your 4th film! Actually, if you have a moment, I'd love for you to start a post about it in the Filmmaking Lounge. Maybe you can share a little about what you've learned on past sets and how you've prepared for this one? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing

Also, I can dig that list. The Matrix came out during my senior year of high school, so it was incredibly inspiring for me, as was Fight Club. Arrival was great, and while Interstellar was interesting (and what a soundtrack), I found it hard to watch because I feel sure we're headed to such a bleak future :-P #TriggerWarningNeeded Did you see Everything Everywhere All at Once?

Jerome Jackson

Thanks Billy! Yeah, that was awesome! Bruce Lee is an icon and his movies set a tone for decades after they premiered. I really love Enter the Dragon! Not only did it have great fight scenes but the story was top notch!

Jerome Jackson

Hey Kay! Nice to meet you too! Thanks and I'll certainly make a post on the journey and what I've discovered dur7ng the experience.

Yeah, Interstellar was pretty bleak in regards to why they had to leave the planet and semi-subtle cautionary tale about how we treat our planet. I think that helped the plot and our view of the characters. That ending was powerful.

I haven't seen Everything Everywhere All at Once yet but I've wanted to since I first seen the trailer. It looks so intriguing and the subject matter really hooked me. I'll definitely see it as soon as possible.

Billy Kwack

Awesome Jerome, good luck with your 4th film

Maurice Vaughan

Impressive mix of favorite movies, Jerome Jackson. Some of my favorite movies are "The Truman Show," "Big Fish," "Disturbia," "The Great Debaters," "Panic Room," "The Goonies," and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." Some of my favorite genres are Thriller, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi.

Jerome Jackson

Thanks Maurice! Yours are awesome too! The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind are both mindblowing! Jim Carey fit those roles perfectly and the script were nothing short of amazing.

Mary Burick

Good luck with your latest film...it will be great! I am fascinated how you can look at something snd see why it didn't work...TOTAL TALENT AND AMAZING WORK...

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jerome Jackson. Jim Carrey is one of my favorite actors.

Jerome Jackson

Lol @ Manuele!

There are so many movies these days that are from novels, comics, graphic novels, video games or remakes/sequels. Some are great, some are just meh but I love a good original film.

Jerome Jackson

Thanks Mary! Appreciating films, stories and the work that goes into them are basically favorite past times of mine.

Jerome Jackson

Yeah, Jim Carey is awesome Maurice! Comedy, to me, is the toughest genre for an actor cause so much depends on timing and humor can be extremely subjective. I feel like many comedians can be great actors because of this like Tom Hanks, Jamie Foxx, and Robin Williams (R.I.P.).

Jerome Jackson

Thanks too Billy! The entire cast and crew are excited like kids on Christmas Eve lol

Billy Kwack

Hi Jerome, I can understand

Abigail Yates

I also love Shawshank Redemption. Some others that I enjoy are Enemy at the Gates and Sin City. The only genre I am not a huge fan of is Slasher, but do enjoy a good horror or psychological thriller (like Gothika).

Maurice Vaughan

Those are the same reasons it's tough to write Comedy, Jerome Jackson. Timing and humor being subjective.

Jerome Jackson

Hey Abigail! Shawshank is so good right? And to think two of my favorite movies written by Steven King aren't even in the horror genre. The Green Mile is also one of my faves. I just watched it again about a month ago and it still hit me like the first time.

The Enemy at the Gates and Sin City were both awesome too! I really loved how the latter of the two used CGI to give it the look from the graphic novel.

Jerome Jackson

I tried writing a comedy once and although I think the was good for what it was, it's just not my strong suit.

I believe that drama and mystery are key components to all stories so I use those elements to enhance my scripts that usually have a taste of fantasy and sci-fi. Many of my recent shorts are also flavored with crime, suspense and horror.

Mary Burick

Why is it thay I cherish anything with Bogart and Bacall...I live your approach to movies. I am a novice just writing true stories...the only way I can process my life...sad but true...lessons learned...many
