Introduce Yourself : I guess there's still time to say hi. by Raphael Bittencourt

I guess there's still time to say hi.

Hey everyone! Please allow me to come late and still hope to say hello here. I'm a Brazilian film writer-director-producer based in sunny LA for the last 8 years. I heard somewhere this was the place to be if you want to meet people and opportunities in the industry. Am I talking about LA or Stage32? Both maybe? Probably. Oh gosh... certainly! Yes, I love to write what I direct and I eventually end up becoming a producer to make that happen. Then some people out there like what I do as a producer and end up inviting me to produce for them as well. Some other people like the way I see and direct things, so they end up inviting me to direct (fiction, documentary and corporate/branded). Yes too, I have already been hired to write stuff for others to direct as well and that is probably the hardest task to me as I really tend to get attached to what I write. I get genuinely jealous of my scripts. to the point that in the past I have refused to "sell" some stuff that I've written, but I did write them for myself to direct from start. They were not scripts for hire, of course. Does that happen to you too? Getting attached to your stories? I tend to write more action, crime, drama, suspense (slow burners) and some sort of fantastic reality, but have flirted with other genres as well. Dense stories, often dark somehow, but also often with some sort of positive side. As a storyteller I think the thing that most define me is the "love to tell meaningful stories". Well, that's about it, for starters. I'd love to hear from you and am 1000% open to collaborations, exchanges and any opportunity out there. Take care and have a great week folks!

Hi Raphael, Welcome back to Stage 32! And you are definitely right on both accounts, sunny LA is absolutely a destination for filmmakers and Stage 32 let's you connect with a global community of like-minded creatives! I think it's very normal to get attached to your materials, especially, as you describe - they are meaningful and dense with a slow burn.
