Hello creatives! I have worked with a few talented writers who have made fruitful and meaningful connections via Stage32, and I am finally setting up my profile, and checking it out. So much to see and do here, it seems. Please send me some tips for a newbie if you have them. I've been writing professionally since 2005, and have loved every confusing, tedious, excruciating minute of it. I have my MFA from Columbia's Grad Film School program, and have been consistently inspired by the writers I've had the pleasure to teach/coach/instruct at places like Sarah Lawrence College, Gotham Writers Workshop, Sundance Collab, and in private instruction. I love to talk story/structure/character and REALLY love sharing the tools that I use for the pre-page process. It's almost silly how much I love to share! I live in the NYC area, and have since 2001. I love labs and retreats (don't we all), and have had the privilege to attend Squaw Valley, Stowe, The Writers Lab, Karuna, and this October I'll be heading to Finland for the month for the Arteles artist residency. I also host the BLITZ writing retreats (virtual and in-person), and the next one is in Bucks County, PA at a lakeside group of cabins at the end of the month. (CAN'T WAIT!) If you have any must-haves when you retreat, please share! In any case, please say hello!

Welcome to the community, C.C. Webster! Glad you decided to set up a profile.
A tip for using Stage 32: Check out the section bar near the top of the platform ("Home," "Profile," "Browse," etc.). A lot of great resources!
Since you love talking story/structure/character and sharing the tools you use for the pre-page process, you should make posts in the Screenwriting lounge: https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting
Hope you have a great time on Stage 32! :)

Hi CC, nice to meet you! I would love to hear more about the retreats you’ve been on! I have a friend putting together one in Greece and i actually got involved in Stage 32 after meeting RB and Amanda on a retreat in South Africa that was fantastic

Emily! Wow, I have heard about the South African retreat! This most recent retreat is one you apply to, that is completely sponsored so you can live/work/create for the entire month. From what I can tell, it's mostly been significant fine artists who have been accepted prior, and it seems that I might be one of the first screenwriters. Arteles is also not a lab or any kind, it's a residency/retreat workspace to focus on completing a project. Squaw Valley, Stowe, The Writers Lab were all true labs, all in beautiful places, but had mentors/seminars, etc. The retreat that I'm hosting, the BLITZ, is a create-your-own writers retreat, where all activities/seminars/mentorship is optional, and you can write all day in your own cabin if you like, or join in on goat yoga, or a seminar on finding narrative, etc. But it's up to the writer. It's combining what I have always wanted in a lab/retreat. So exciting that you did the South Africa retreat...amazing!
