Hello All,
A small community college wants to produce my short play, has also offered royalties and is hoping for my accommodation. The play was published two years ago and that's how it was discovered.
I am fine with the dollar amount but is there anything I need to do besides giving him my permission?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi Don and congrats, that sounds amazing. Are you in contact with a writers' guild or similar? Or are you in the Writers Room ? If you are happy with what they are offering, and as it is a community college (as opposed to a theatre) a written agreement might be enough - perhaps see how far they are prepared to advertise it (are they recording it, for example?) and whether they are trying to change words or not. Will you be involved in rehearsals or otherwise engaged?
There is some useful info here: https://www.dramatistsguild.com
Perhaps there are some other people on here who have had a similar experience ?
Glad to hear you sold it towards a community college- High School and College are the years when writing and acting fully develop. When it comes to selling a script I would imagine the would pay for the script and offer royalties from the tickets bought. Or from stage coaching if they want you to be a part of that step.
