Hi! I've been making super low (to no) budget shorts for about 15 years. While I love producing and directing I've recently shifted gears into focusing solely on my writing.
I'm interested in female driven ensembles. In particular, drama and historical based. I currently have several pieces in the works that take place during World War 2.
I love anything and everything that deals with aviation. I am a pilot, so I guess that's par for the course.
Would love to connect with other historical based filmmakers/writers/fellow pilots.

Hi, CM LaBree. Drama and historical female-driven ensembles sound interesting. OCEAN'S EIGHT was a female ensemble movie. Did you see it? Wow, you have a Keelboat Certification and a pilot's license! What type of aircrafts do you fly?

I have seen it. It was fun.
I fly Cessnas currently (the little guys). Slowly climbing up the ladder in ratings when I can find the time (and money!). I hope to some day get a SIC (second in command) rating on the B-25.

Hi CM LaBree. Welcome. I haven't delved into any history-based script ideas yet, but I'm hoping to do so in the future. Love history from different eras, especially WW2. Have you heard of the book Taking Flight: The Nadine Ramsey Story by chance?
Awesome about being a pilot!

Welcome! I’m especially fond of the World War II era, having written a spec miniseries and a gothic horror film in that time period. There are so many untapped stories that out there, I can never get enough of them!

CM LaBree I'm a high wing, VFR gal. 152, 172, 172 RG. No aspiration for WWII twin bombers though. Good luck, keep it straight and level. :)

An interesting era for sure; I missed most of it though. My Mama was a WAVE that put Corsairs through their paces, then delivered them to Biloxi. My Daddy flew P-51omber escort and T-6s in Europe. I was a treetop flyer in Vietnam. All I Produce now are shorts. Welcome to the fold. May good fortune find you.

That's great, CM LaBree! I don't know many people who fly, so it's exciting when I meet someone who does. Hope you find opportunities and success on here with your projects.

Erik Carlson I have not heard about her. I will put that on my wish list. The only name that comes to mind is Gertrude Tompkins. She is the only woman that died ferrying planes whose body has never been recovered. Interesting little read you can find easily enough online.

James Welday I'm in complete agreement with you there. I've been slowly making inroads on women spies during WW2. Really fascinating stuff.

Doug Nelson That is incredible that your mom was a pilot then! My Pop Pop and his brother were all in the Navy during the war. When they got out they all used their GI bill for flight lessons and a steerman.
Thank you for your service and best of luck to you as well!

I've written a historical pilot. Not a female driven ensemble but I'm always open to exploring different dynamics within writing. Good to meet you!
@Michael David Always good to see others are writing historical stories. What era did you focus on for your pilot and is it your favorite time period?
