What's something other than acting that made you become a better actor?

I found this interesting article on Harry Lennix, where Harry cites studying to be a clergy helped him become a better actor (and ultimately decide he wasn't cut out for the priesthood).

Have you ever studied something other than acting that made you become a better actor?

I think my background in marketing has helped me become more empathetic to others wants and needs and has helped increase my onstage persona.

I have worked with Harry, he is one of the best and most professional actors I have had the pleasure to meet.

I do Studio Camera, A1 and A2 and have worked doing Chyron, Teleprompter and several other production positions. I used to be A2 and also A1 on The Charlie Rose show among other shows. I still occasionally do Studio camera for some corporations in NYC - (unfortunately I could use more of it now!) - But I am an Actress & VO artist. I've done a myriad of Indy films and TV/Web series and such - In fact, one of my series is on Tubi right now - The Bitch in 4B - And I found that it's really good to know - or even better - to work in both sides of the fence so to speak - so when you are in front of the camera - you know what it takes to get the product and you tend to treat the production people - the crew - a little better. I also owned a Rehearsal/Recording studio - so obviously that was invaluable in my Voice Over work - which is mainly my Bread and Butter now.

Decades ago, I found that my stand-up experience helped my comedy acting. The same skills are involved with understanding pacing, set-up and delivery, pausing and overall delivery.
