Screenwriting : Producer/production company lists by Brian Lajeunesse

Producer/production company lists

Of course half the challenge of writing screenplays is getting them in front of people that might want to give them a chance. Do any of you guys have a good place you use in the way of websites that compile lists of people and companies to pitch to?

Abraham Steven

I believe the greatest half is getting people to read your script and give me feedback and notes. I will always opt for feedback and notes than telling them to buy my scripts. As a salesman, selling is very hard when you focus on the sales. Why not hook them by submitting and getting feedback on your work? Then an option if they are interested in it we can work together.

Danny Manus

You should not be asking producers for notes. Thats not what they are there for. They are there to buy your script, develop your script, or pass on your script. they dont have the time to do you favors by giving you notes. Why would they? what do THEY get? i would strongly suggest changing your plan.

Kiril Maksimoski

Social media is full of people looking to read stuff...peers, quid pro quo kinda deal, etc...one such pleasant interaction got me paid assignment working on atm...but the thing is and this is complicated part...it's all about human connection can't just jump in like "hey dude read my script in a hurry of becoming the next Kaufman or Koepp"...gotta make relations, bring common interests bla bla...or at least fake it good...

Rutger Oosterhoff

Just type in Google " screenplays + Unsolicited queries"

Abraham Steven

Exactly kiril, I don't believe in jumping on getting reading on my script. The first day I joined the platform, I had an opportunity to post and I got two amazing people that read my script, they gave me amazing feedback and notes on what I needed to improve. It's about making deep human connections. A simple message can change one's life. I love to get feedback from anyone especially directors, producers, actors, and screenwriters. Nobody will buy a script without first believing in the success of script.

i'm not talking about getting notes or coverage. I can get that here. I'm just talking about anyplace besides doing a google search. There are websites for everything and I was just assuming there is a place that has already done the work of stockpiling information about agents/producers looking for materials.

Sam Mannetti

Hey Brian, unfortunately there are no public lists for that. Most agencies and management companies have these lists but they do not share them. However with our career development calls certain executives can provide you with lists or at least insight for a strategy for determining where your project aligns in the current market. https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=6 Let me know if you need any recommendations.

Kiril Maksimoski has some great advice, Brian Lajeunesse. Build relationships. Building relationships will lead to opportunities to pitch your scripts to producers, production companies, directors, agents, etc.

Rex Basswood

you might try The Film Catalogue. apparently, i haven’t used it yet, but i believe they provide information about producers, directors and others. try BLCKLST. they a screenplay site that will post your longline, one pager and your whole screenplay. the site is perused by people in the film industry looking for new scripts.
