Director Alejandro Loayza Grisi talks about his film UTAMA, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and is representing Bolivia at the 95th Academy Awards.
UTAMA is Bolivia’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. Oscar nominations for 2023 will be announced on January 24.
The debut feature by Alejandro Loayza Grisi, UTAMA, premiered in January 2022 at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Grand Jury Prize in the World Dramatic Competition. The Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner has won awards at Málaga Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Guadalajara International Film Festival, among others.
The acclaimed movie by Alejandro Loayza Grisi has been nominated for a Goya in the Best Ibero-American Film category. The Goya Awards are Spain’s main national annual film awards, commonly referred to as the Academy Awards of Spain.
The UK-Ireland distributor CONIC has released UTAMA in UK cinemas on November 25, 2022.
