I submitted a script outline to Larry David's agent when COVID was strong by registered mail and didn't receive an acknowledgement of any kind. There is a catch-22 that I read that you need an agent to be able to submit; but you can't get an agent unless your submission was accepted. Other persons agents may read your work and contact you on behalf of their clients (who run the show), or they may not. I also sent a submission to HBO during COVID that was returned unopened. Should I try again now that COVID has lessened?

Hi Vincent, I'd recommend starting with some smaller companies who are actively looking for new clients and will have more bandwidth and attention to give you. If you're able to pay for some Stage 32 services, I'd recommend starting there. Let me know what genres you're working on, and I can recommend some managers who might be a good fit to talk to. You can also send an email over to success@stage32.com - our team can give you a sample query letter and some more support on sending out submissions.

Vincent: Nearly every major agency or production company has a no unsolicited material policy. Molly is correct. Set your sight on accessible individuals with connections to production companies.

I also recommend taking a look at the Writers' Room - https://www.stage32.com/writers-room. There are tons of benefits to being a member, one of which is Open Writing Assignments. They change every month and are free for members to submit their scripts.
Not unless they're accepting submissions. Many do not take unsolicited materials. Were you provided with a name or contact information and asked to submit?

Never send your script unsolicited. You can query reps, asking if they'd read the script. If they request it, send your script. If they do request it, you will probably have to sign a waiver. There are legal reasons it was returned unopened.
