Hello fellow writers, animators, and artists,
I wanted to give you all an insight in an animation writer's group I have been running on Discord for about 6 months now. From a few of the webinars and on-demand classes I have been watching, the importance of a writers group has been brought up as a topic of interest.
Writers groups are a great way to connect with like-minded people as well as learn from others. Thus, I wanted to see if anyone wanted to join my animation writers group on Discord. We have quite a lot going on from feedback exchanges to cute pet photos. I am hoping to find artists and animators that are interested to join.
For writers it is a great way to get feedback on your scripts and learn from others. Artists and animators have the chance to showcase their work through artwork that may be needed from writers i.e. character designs for a pitch deck. The fundamental principle of a good group however is a give and take system. If you want to receive feedback or work from an artist, then you should exchange something in return. Some ideas of this include feedback for scripts, proof reading, log line reviews, and so on. That is mainly why I created the group in the first place is to have a safe and collaborative space for all. We don't move forward by focussing on just our own needs. Helping others, helps ourselves. If anyone is interested to join feel free to comment in this post. I will send out the Discord invite through DMs (which is a great way to expand our network on Stage 32 as well).
