Hello! I'm a scriptwriter in the greater Sacramento area. I'm proof that if you hang in there, take notes, polish your craft and listen to your internal guidance system that you will move forward. At the end of 2022, I just completed another rewrite of my tv pilot Enlightened. Earlier in the year my pilot gained traction with some contest placements but it could go no further than a semifinalist placement. I spent the last quarter of 2022 studying tv pilots of shows I respect wholeheartedly and then applied what I learned to my pilot and resubmitted it to some of the larger contests that I won't hear from until spring 2023 as well as I submitted it to a smaller contest that runs monthly competitions. I just found out that Enlightened was awarded as the Winner of the Royal Society of Television & Motion Picture contest for December 2002. Point being - there were many times I thought to throw in the towel because I couldn't quite master the craft to bring a story home but my sticking with it and elevating it piece by piece finally got me across my first finish line. Now I feel like I know how to properly train and will go back to rewrite my first four spec scripts. Personally, I utilize scriptwriting contests to industry-proof my writing before I heavily market it. If anyone lives in the greater Sacramento and wants to meet up to talk shop - let me know! Glad to be here with such a phenomenal group of artists.
