Introduce Yourself : Author hoping to adapt books for streaming by Cat Caruthers

Author hoping to adapt books for streaming

Hi! I'm the author of two chick lit novels. They never found an audience but I really think they'd make a great streaming show so I plan to write a pilot based on them.

Josh Blackmon

I am a fellow author who has adapted books with the goal of streaming series or film. Good luck!

Welcome to the community, Cat Caruthers. Stage 32 has resources that can help you adapt your novels, such as this blog (www.stage32.com/blog/authorsits-time-to-take-your-book-to-screen-2373). Members post advice about adapting novels in the Screenwriting Lounge sometimes (www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting).

Hi Cat - great to meet you and welcome to the community. I’m the Director of Education here at Stage 32. If I can ever be of any help on your Stage 32 education journey or recommend any of our education for you please email me directly at edu@stage32.com. We have some great education on adapting IP for the screen.

Hey Cat, good for you! You're creating and using your own IP, that is the best way to take control! We have a service that is just for adapting the book to screen. You can check it out here: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=66. It could be really useful as you dive into writing the screenplays. We also have several webinars about creating and developing your own IP at different stages, you can search here: https://www.stage32.com/webinars

Cat Caruthers

Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming. I will check out some of the resources. I attempted to write a TV series years ago but it's been a long time. Back then I used a free program called Celtx. Please tell me I don't need to buy expensive software.

John Holkinson

Fade in is excellent and affordable

Maurice Vaughan

I use Final Draft 12 as my primary screenwriting software, Cat Caruthers, but I use WriterDuet as a backup. WriterDuet is affordable. www.writerduet.com
