Leveraging Film Festival Selections

Hi Everyone!

reTribution, a high budget Action Thriller (short) shot on 35mm film that I produced (I'm Starring in it as well), has just gotten it's first festival selections:

Omaha Film Festival

Wyoming International Film Festival

This is a Proof of Concept for a Feature so we hope to meet some great contacts and potential investors / producers / talent as we start making the festival rounds.

What I'm looking for is any advice/tactics for levering these festival selections to:

A) get MORE festival selections.

B) Raise funds / build a team to start funding the feature version (which would be 1MM+ at least)

All ideas appreciated and feel free to check out the Trailer below - Thanks!

Hi Nick Moss - Congratulations on your film selections, that's great! I suggest sending a press release with your news to all the festivals you have applied to and let them know your film is gaining traction. Also, adding those laurels to your film poster is another reason to reach out to them.

Nick Moss, congrats on your selections!

I recommend focusing on the B.) tactic.

Raising your film's budget should be your be all / end all focus.

A selection, or better yet a win at Venice, Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, or Sundance would get you in a room with investors. But achieving a measure of success at any of those festivals is a major endeavor in and of itself.

Think about setting your sights on raising your production budget (not post) through people who want to see you succeed...donors...patrons of Nick Moss.

And Nick, that being said, here's where I'll invoke the words of William Goldman, "no one knows anything."

Thanks Shellie Schmals ! I've definitely been sending follow ups with the news! Actual press is a great idea though. A bit small for a Press Agent at the moment but I could try the direct to journalist approach...

Thanks a million Joe Orlandino ! I appreciate the advice, definitely working the contact list for this one. It does seem that festivals are more of question mark than they even used to be when it comes us using them to raise funds. Hoping that at least the selections ease potential investors fears about quality/credibility/possibly some marketplace demand
