Thanks for sharing, Ben Cahan. Mark Sanderson gives a lot of great screenwriting advice and insight.
In the article, Mark said, “Trust me, producers will go out of their way to work with a screenwriter who is a team player and goes above and beyond every time. But what about the temperamental writers with undeveloped talent who believe their scripts are masterworks? Their lack of professionalism and ego will sink their chances of any success as the film business will quickly humble them.”
That's true. If you're a team player, you're open to notes, you know how to apply those notes to scripts, you go above and beyond, and you don't have an ego (let's call you A), then producers, directors, production companies, etc. will be happy to work with you, but if you're the opposite of those things (let's call you B), then people in the industry will avoid you and fire you from projects. Think about it, would you rather work with A or B?
