Introduce Yourself : Greetings! by John Schulte

John Schulte

Greetings!

Got lured in by effective email campaigns to check out Stage 32. Always intrigued to expand my network, so here I am. The feather in my cap that never blows away is having a hand in developing and writing for "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Also, years ago, I wrote and co-produced a fun little romcom film with Garry Marshall, called "Four Stars." Currently developing an IP that features a roster of Paralympic athletes.

Welcome to the community, John Schulte. No way you had a hand in developing and writing for "The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." Who's your favorite turtle?

Maurice Vaughan, I must respect them all, of course — but I lean a little on the side of Michelangelo, mostly because I fought the noble fight to have his original name spelling changed from Michaelangelo to the Renaissance artist’s spelling, Michelangelo. Some of the early toy and other licensed products were released with the Michael spelling and could t be changed, as it was explained to me: “Because the attorneys already trademarked it that way.” After a cycle of entertainment came out and the property was approaching its billion dollar status, the proper spelling was adopted. For that reason, I’ve always had a kinship with Mike.

That's pretty cool that you fought to have his name changed from Michaelangelo to Michelangelo, John Schulte. I heard about the Michelangelo misspelling. My favorite turtle is Michelangelo. One reason is the nunchucks.

Welcome to the Stage 32 community, John Schulte! As someone who grew up on TMNT, thank you! I'm a Donatello stan myself.

The best way to network here on Stage 32, is just to put yourself out there by posting, commenting, and connecting with people from all over the world. The best networking comes out of building genuine relationships. You can start by checking out the Screenwriting, Animation, and Transmedia Lounges where you can join discussions with other writers, pose questions that you may have, provide advice or insights, and share news/announcements that interest you.

You can find the lounges through the toolbar at the top of your browser window. Simply click on "Lounge", which will direct you to a new page listing all of the current lounges available to you. Then select "Screenwriting", "Animation", or "OTT and Transmedia". I hope to see you over there!

Welcome to Stage 32 John! What was your favorite part of working on The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

hello welcome

Excited to see what you're doing with the Paralympians! My favorite race car driver (and favorite human), Alex Zanardi, was a Paralympic medalist in 2012 and 2016. That really turned me on to the Paralympics and I became a big fan. I much prefer to watch them over the Olympics. I hope whatever you're developing will help people take notice of the events and understand that they are not the same as the Special Olympics, which is a confusion I've encountered when talking about the Paralympics with many people. It's a shame how many people (at least here in the U.S.) have no idea the Paralympics exist.
