Hello all! Oliver Mann here. I am a Film Producer/Director and have been a Stage 32 member for more than 7 years! If you are a filmmaker or Producer that is going into production for your feature and needs help with the Initial Tax Credit application? That is organizing, categorizing and submitting the initial application. I am your guy. I successfully received a NY tax refund after my first feature and I helped out with other films with tax credit applications.
Congrats on getting the NY tax refund - that state is notoriously particular with their credit. Any tips for others you can share? Congrats on your film!
Amanda Toney Hey Amanda! Sorry for late response. Indeed! Key to having a seamless tax credit filing but not limited to:
-Setup QB with budget codes from coordinating state
-Keep the books tight along with copies of all invoices from development to the last expense in Post Production. Example,expenses were made for the Prop Department, copy of those invoices should go into the account number of the film budget to have to be audit ready,
- Having an accountant to do this is always great or an experienced Producer to keep track of all in QB
