Children are colorful and innocent... LOOKING FOR CROWDFUNDING ADVICE

Hi,

I am Sushant Shrestha from Nepal. I am looking for the right way to do the crowdfunding. Right now I am trying a crowdfunding for one of my short films in Indiegogo. After a good response to the 1st chapter of this 5 chapters Short film, we are looking to collect the finance and look for the distribution.

The 1st chapter title was 'JUNU KO JUTTA (THE SHOES OF A LITTLE GIRL). It is a story of a 4-year-old girl in a remote village in the mountains of Nepal, who tries to solve her problem herself. With the message, Children are capable of solving their problems themselves, the film has traveled to more than 50 International Film Festivals and won about 20+ awards including, Children's Jury Mention Award at Oberhausen International Short Film Festival 2020.

We are ready for the 2nd chapter, which follows the same character, but with different children's issues. With the title JUNU KO RIBBON, this time solving her friend's problem which has arisen from the discrimination that society and the system have created.

This sounds like it might also be a project that could obtain grant funding. The World Cinema Fund, for example, offers grants in Nepal and other countries to “promote high-quality filmmaking in regions with a weak infrastructure for film . . . .”

Congrats on your project Sushant Shrestha! I would highly recommend our Stage 32 CEO's book Crowdsourcing For Filmmakers: Indie Film & the Power of the Crowd - there is INVALUABLE advice in there from interviewing hundreds of filmmakers on crowdsourcing and crowdfunding their projects: https://www.amazon.com/Crowdsourcing-Filmmakers-American-Market-Presents...

Hi Sushant - I agree with Amanda above - RB's book is an amazing resource for you.

I also recommend this Stage 32 class on crowdsourcing taught by a friend of RB's, Stephen Follows, who has done extensive research on the subject: https://www.stage32.com/classes/Advanced-Crowfunding-Masterclass

Wishing you great success with your project.

Hi Sushant, I think choosing the right platform for your project is very important too. If you don't have success with Indiegogo, there are other crowdfunding platforms like Seed & Spark that have more socially conscious and diverse projects featured. There are new platforms that seek diverse voices. Along with Seed & Spark, a newer platform is "Support Our Story" that might be a better fit. But I wish you success with Indiegogo!
