Any producers here have a favorite state in the U.S. for shooting? A film I'm looking to do can be shot pretty much anywhere, so I'm looking for a state with great tax incentives. Thanks!

Come down to Australia, with the right setup you can get 30-40% back from incentives.

Georgia, Texas, New Mexico. Look up each state's film commission and their tax incentives, etc. If there's "tax credits that are transferable" then better. You can sell them. They'll let you know the requirements.

Thanks, Maurice! This is really helpful. I'd googled it and got some places, but this is much more comprehensive than anything I'd found.

Thanks Lindbergh! I have looked at the sites for those states. I know that some film commissions have their act together more than some others, so I was curious if anyone had some first-hand experiences they could share about which film commissions they preferred working with over others. I actually worked on a TV series (a western) in New Mexico and they have a great entertainment scene there, with top-notch crews and resources.

Hi Maureen - here's a link to a Stage 32 webinar on US tax incentives. Nicholas is a top-notch and experienced producer who I recommend learning from. Here ya go: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/How-You-Can-Uses-U-S-Tax-Incentives-To-...

Thanks, Sam. I think I have a pretty good idea of how they work, but I'll check it out. Thanks!

Hey Sam, I did end up signing up for that webinar. I haven't watched it yet. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Georgia has a 30% credit, and if you shoot in Chatham County, an additional 10% -- it is first come first served, but a great way to mitigate further via credits, if the story permits.

Thanks James, I've heard great things about Georgia. I've also heard they're really busy. It's looking like we're going to shoot in Oklahoma. :-)

Entertainment Partners has a useful tool to compare U.S. and global incentives on their website at https://www.ep.com/production-incentives/.
