The SAG-AFTRA Strike - what’s on the table

This is a free a great article about the strike, what’s actually on the table and Fran Drescher’s speech. Plus a little strike history thrown in for good measure, as well as what’s happening with the WGA Strike.

Drescher said,

“I am shocked by the way the people that we have been in business with are treating us. I cannot believe it, quite frankly, how far apart we are on so many things. How they plead poverty, that they're losing money left and right when giving hundreds of millions of dollars to their CEOs. It is disgusting. Shame on them. They stand on the wrong side of history...”

And she goes on to point out that with the radical streaming revolution, the AMPTP cannot think that negotiations can go along in a piecemeal fashion. There needs to be a radical change in the conditions and rewards that the labour that makes this wonderful industry possible, receives.

Fran Drescher was amazing and inspiring yesterday. My wife is in SAG (and the WGA) and she was on her feet cheering during her press conference. Everyone should watch this. Thanks for sharing, Geoff Hall!

Sam Sokolow thanks Sam. How are things with you?

Hi Geoff Hall - all's well on my end. Like all of us, hope the labor issues in Hollywood get resolved as soon as possible so everyone - from caterers to grips - above and below the line - can get back to work. But also excited about a bunch of things we have coming up on the education side at Stage 32 in the next few months. This is a smart time for people to work on their craft and create material to share when things are settled so staying focused on the work at hand and supporting the community in all endeavors. How's your summer going?
