Introduce Yourself : Hi by Sharon Minski

Sharon Minski

Hi

Hi everyone! I am fairly new to Stage 32 and so happy to be part of this amazing community. Writing and movies/tv have always been my passions, so in my 40's decided it was finally time to give screenwriting a real shot. My first screenplay made it as finalist in the Stage 32 Family Feature contest and has fueled my drive to continue writing my stories and pursuing my dreams.

I am currently working on a couple of ideas for family films, as well as a pilot. I'm very excited to be here, to get to know all of you, and most importantly learn from everyone!

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I am really happy to have found this space!

Sam Sokolow My screenplay is about an 11 year old girl, Sophie, who starts distancing herself from her twin sister as she explores different hobbies and new friends instead of the shared ones they've always had.

Sharon Minski - that sounds like a great premise for a film. We just watched Dear God It's Me Margaret and really enjoyed it. Obviously not comparing but it's such a ripe and relatable age for drama and exploration.

"screenplay is about an 11 year old girl, Sophie..."

is your audience children of the same age OR is your audience young adults/parents ?

if you add this hint +genre in the pitch, it'll be easier for people to get interest on.

also: Sophie could be a thousand girls from a thousand cultural backgrounds.

did you know that twins in africa are considered

'angelic' and god blessed ? if your Sophie to be african-american your screenplay would be exotic and normal at the same time, enhancing appeal.

what is the event that separates twins hobbies interests ? is twin families your target ?

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Sharon Minski. Your concept sounds unique. I can tell there's gonna be a lot of friction between the sisters.
